Med., 1972, 107 (4), 359-365„ŸBiophysical study of Australia antigen (Au) was made with 5 specimens including 3 plasmas and 2 plasma pools which had been known to be Au carriers. A fraction which could be detected both by comple ment fixation test and by Ouchterlony double diffusion test was obtained with all of the specimens and this could be banded at a buoyant density of 1.21-1.23 g/cm3 in CsCl. In addition, another fraction with a buoyant density of 1.28 g/ cm3 was recovered from one of the plasma pools. This fraction was detected, however, only by complement fixation test. Electron microscopic study of the latter fraction revealed small particles about 3-4 mƒÊ in diameter, suggesting subunits of known Au antigen particles. hepatitis; Au antigen

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Med., 1972, 108 (1), 95-96 A mixed human serum containing Australia (Au) antigen was fractionated by a discontinuous sucrose gradient centrifugation. When Au antigen in each fraction was assayed by radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunoelectrosyneresis ...

Gold nano-particles as electrochemical signal amplifier for immune-reaction monitoring

A new signal amplification strategy based on simultaneous application of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was employed to improve the sensitivity of an electrochemical immunoassay for detection of human IgG (hIgG), as a model antigenic protein. This immunoassay system was fabricated on magnetic carboxyl-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (COOH-MWCNT/Fe3...

Australia Antigen (a Hepatitis-associated Antigen)

Australia antigen [Au(1)], a particle associated with viral hepatitis, was isolated from the plasma of a patient with chronic anicteric hepatitis and leukemia who had received radioactive phosphorus. We have found that the immunoreactivity and appearance of Au(1) in the electron microscope were not altered by treatment with enzymes including trypsin, pronase, lipase, phospholipase C, ribonuclea...
